Step-by-Step Directions

1. Let the exhaust system cool completely: Turn off your car for at least an hour before cleaning so that the exhaust system cools down entirely.

2. Remove access barriers: To spray the catalytic converter cleaner, you must first remove the sensors and panels that may block access to the catalytic converter.

3. Insert the probe: Insert the cleaner probe into the oxygen sensor opening. Direct the cleaner probe toward the catalytic converter.

4. Spray the catalytic converter cleaner: Before using the catalyst cleaner, shake the can well. Spray the cleaner into the catalytic converter in bursts of 5 seconds at a time. While spraying, rotate the probe (hose) so the cleaner reaches all parts of the catalytic converter. Repeat the process until the can is completely empty.

5. Reinstall the sensor and run the engine: Start your car's engine. Leave your car idling for 15 minutes. Turn on all power consumers (headlights, seat heaters, front/rear window defrosters, air conditioning). After that, it is preferable to drive for another 20 minutes at high speed and an RPM of 2000-2500 on the highway to clean the catalytic converter thoroughly.

6. Reset the errors displayed on the car's computer: The control unit calculates the amount of dirt in the catalytic converter based on the fuel consumed during its operation—it does not measure the amount of dirt directly. After completing everything, you can reset the vehicle's computer using a diagnostic tool. If you do not do this, the onboard computer will continue to think that the catalytic converter is dirty and completely full, which may lead to undesirable vehicle behavior.

Summary

The temperature of the catalytic converter before cleaning must be below 40 °C. Remove the temperature or pressure sensor.
